Good News for the Cyclists of Gurgaon!

This Gandhi Jayanti on Friday, 2nd October 2020, Gurgaonites will celebrate the inauguration of a dedicated cycle track along the Netaji Subhash Marg connecting HUDA City Centre to Subhash Chowk. This project has been completed by Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in association with Hero Cycles.

This 10 km long, 5m wide cycle track has been build converting the service lane on either side of Netaji Subhash Marg and will allow cyclists to ply safely across the stretch without interfering with the regular traffic.

A Cyclothon will follow the formal inauguration by GMDA. The Cyclothon will begin from HUDA City Centre on Netaji Subhash Marg (near Fortis Hospital) at 6.30 am.

Bring your own cycle or rent one there and take a ride across the newly built track this weekend. Participants will require to adhere to physical distancing and wearing masks and have to bring their own water bottles.

Gurgaon has been a road locked city with roads everywhere with no pedestrian or cycle tracks along the service roads. This marks a change in infrastructure design of the city and hopefully, we should see more of such tracks in other parts of the city coming in the very near future.

For this section of road to be converted to a dedicated cycling track, the footpath also has been repaired and entry and exit points have been created for cyclists to move to and fro the main road if needed. Traffic signals are also being installed at all major intersections for easy crossing for cyclists and pedestrians. Any vehicle other than cycles plying on the track will be liable for fines.
